Deltic is the studio of Ben Arnott, a mechanical design engineer.

His career started in aerospace engineering, working to tight tolerances where parts have to be right the first time.

After that came years as a head race mechanic for world-class downhill and enduro MTB teams on the World Cup circuit. Much of that was suspension and kinematic tuning, getting bikes dialled for the fastest riders in the world. Running race bikes at that level shows you how parts really behave when they're pushed hard, and what it takes to make them last.

That led into design. Ben has developed components for brands including Chromag and OneUp, and frames for the likes of Chromag and Frameworks. More recently the focus has been motorcycle parts, taken from first concept through to production alongside the people who build them.

Deltic is where that work is available on contract, from a single component up to a complete system.

The name

Deltic takes its name from the Napier Deltic, a two-stroke opposed-piston diesel with three cylinder banks in a triangle. A masterpiece that powered Royal Navy fast patrol boats, then the Class 55 ‘Deltic’ express locomotives for twenty years. The shape behind the mark.
